The greatest gift that God can give
A woman in her life
Is for her to fall in love
And then become a wife
And if that gift is given
Then she can twice be blessed
By giving her a child
To complete her happiness
And if that child is a son
Then God will look at Dad
To teach him right from wrong
What is good and what is bad
And if that child is a daughter
Then Mom is three times blessed
For daughters love their mothers
More than all the rest
Now don’t you mothers scoff
‘Cause I know this to be true
How many times have people said
“She’s grown up just like you”
Daughters love their mothers
Although they sometimes fight
In the end they come to see
That Mom is always right
And when the daughter marries
And she has children too
Then Mom will be a fourth time blessed
‘Cause Mom’s love daughters too
The author is unknown. I found this in a Mother’s Day program from May 12th, 1990. Now, 32 years later, our society no longer seems to believe this eternal truth. For all of human existence, our future has depended on men and women working together to raise the next generation. Now we tell our children that they can be any gender they want. Not only that, but we tell them that gender is fluid and is not limited to just male and female.
Tragically we also teach our girls that they are oppressed by the patriarchy and their ultimate goal is to seek “equality” with men. Today’s culture defines oppression as raising a family.
I can only pray, “God help us.”
